brown out
June 24, 2003 - 10:41 pm yep, only three days into summer and there's already a brown out. i'm lucky the computer didn't fuck up, cuz it was on at the time. i was down in the basement and the washer was going, as was the dryer, half a dozen lights and of course the a/c.(the main culprit, along with several thousand others) so the lights flickered and went dim for about 30 sec. then went back on. i switched the a/c off, cuz it's gotten cooler. and i'll make sure that there is a mininum amount of power on. why the brown out? good question. cuz ontario hydro sold us out years ago. and now when the going gets tough we have to buy our power from new york state. imagine, not only buying it from another state, but another country! you would think with friggin' niagara falls 60-120kms away from 5, 000, 000 people we could support all the power used. but i'm pretty sure that all of the electricity generated from the falls goes elsewhere. and if i'm wrong plaese explain, i'd love to know.(but too lazy to look it up) maybe i'll ask someone.
so the temp is 40C with the humidex and gonna get worse tomorrow. we are buying power from our neighbours(b.t.w. thanks!) and if todays brown out is an eyeopener, wait til tomorrow. i'm tempted to just turn the sprinkler on and run through that a couple of times after work. |
