not a fan of the morning news
September 12, 2003 - 10:27 pm

i guess everyone was kind of shocked to find out johnny cash died early this morning, even though his health was failing. but the real shocker was finding out that john ritter passed away as well. normally i really don't care about hollywood or their overpaid and undertalented gossip mongers. but back in the late seventies and eighties some things were different. and i was a lot younger and less cynical. i would also get the giggles laughing at the sophomoric comedy of three's company. yeah i had some laughs at the expense of "jack trippers" pratfalls and crazy schemes. a dangerous amount of laughter for a ten year old boy. hee hee. thanks for making an impressionable young boy go to sleep giggling. yep, thanks mr. ritter.

even though i'm not a big fan of country music(like i loathe it - especially "new" country) i am intrigued about the pioneers. maybe not enough to go out and buy any records yet...there was something cool about johnny cash. the black outfits, and the don't fuck with me attitude that even some of todays poser rock stars would scamper away from. and plus i have a copy of the imfamous folsom prison blues(which is my ex-roomates but hey he has four of my cd's - so we'll call it even)so if you want to pretend you're a bad-ass(or feel like one) dust off your parents or grandparents copy of any johnny cash album crack open a pack of marlboros and ....well you get the picture. the strangest tribute i heard today was when "jock rock" station the edge played one of the newest cash songs, a cover of a nine inch nails "hurt".(and it's better than the original) on the other hand it was johnny cash.

and just think, i probably wouldn't have written about this had i set my alarm to the "buzzer" selection but that's even scarier.
