diaryland

a great end to march
April 01, 2003 - 11:59 pm

i say, i think its bloody well time i updated my diary! its only been a week or so. i had planned to submit an entry from across the border but i didnt have time. and speaking of said u.s./cdn border, i had little difficulty smuggling everything i wanted to under the passenger seat(they only checked my trunk) the standard questions were asked and answered. the bag was checked, the i.d. examined. then i was set upon n.y. state to do what i pleased. and for me that is just passing through it! the drive was pleasant enough and when i got into the burgh, an even bigger surprise was waiting for me: no traffic jam. which my girl had warned me about ahead of time. yep, one of the many tunnels are getting a major fix-up and that means gridlock city. i wasnt to keen on taking the detour cuz : 1. as with all detours they usually take you miles away from your destination. 2. even though the directions for the detour were flawless, if i dont have a visual aid (i.e. a map) i second guess my self and take a wrong turn somewhere. 3. i just dont like em. bleh!

so, no detour and 4 and a hours later i pulled up to kittens residence. smashing into her neighbours car while trying to parallel park. oops! no damage, and it wasnt very loud so no one came out. it was so good to see my girl after 17 days. and after a few hours its like , what 17 days? thats a good thing. the next four days seemed to last forever and after the first night of kits home cooking(which is grossly underrated by her) we ate out at various eateries. all were fantastic ,by the way. on friday, we drove down to Farmington, PA to check out the imfamous nemacolin spa. it was pretty awe inspiring to say the least. it was of interest to me because i had applied there and wanted to get a first hand look at the grounds and how to get there etc. after our self tour, we cruised on up to ohiopyle state park, to catch a glimpse of the many rapids and of course the world famous, cucumber falls. it was a joyous ride back to the burgh, seeing the many piles of rusted old washers, dryers and stoves that have become members of some peoples families. you know the kind that you cant bare to throw out but still leave sitting on your front lawn. strange but true. and that same evening almost spoiled our din by stopping at the old krispy kreme. where no matter what, well give you a free doughnut for buying 24 should be their motto. yep. not even 10 sec in line and they shove a steaming, sugar-goo coated grease wheel in your face. no complaints here. no wonder homer goes crazy for them. the rest of the weekend was divided between staring at the stars, eating delicious breakfasts, playing intense games of scrabble, laughing at the simpsons and snuggling up close. not necessarily in that order. those all add up to a fantastic weekend. but as all good things must come to an end, i had to go to work monday. and sinve my schedule had been changed, i was able to spend and extra night. and there is a downside, i had to wake up at 5:30am to drive back and get to work by 11:30. it was a nice drive but i did have trouble concentrating and staying awake. i eventually made it home in time and somehow make it through the day, cuz it was a long one. i know im forgetting tons of other stuff but what are you to do?
