cold stone letdown
May 06, 2004 - 12:28 pm

last night court, casey and i went for ice cream at the brand new ice cream shop on squirrel hill, cold stone creamery or whatever it's called. i fancy myself as a crazed connoisseur of any and all ice cream. although i would not bite off my left arm for some. other people might.

now i've been watching with anticipation in the last few weeks waiting for this place to open and just a few days ago it did. the line up was out the door onto forbes av. and i think we waited around fifteen minutes to get served. the line looked worse than it actually was. we found out the "truth" while in line. whenever someone give the people making the ice cream a tip, they have to sing a goofy song about it really loud. after doing that for 8 hours i'd probably kill myself.

now this is from me piecing things together.(and reading the signs on the wall) they make their own ice cream on the premises. as well as the waffle cone thingies. they have around a dozen different ice cream conconctions, where they "fold" in all of these diffrent ingredients, from fruit to nuts to chocolate bars and gummy bears.

i guess some of the thrill is watching them slap down a scoop of french vanilla ice cream onto this metal plate(or "cold stone") and grab whatever you want and sing dumb songs. they should be throwing ice cream into the air and catching it for more entertainment, i say. if it falls on the floor the other staff gets to smush the perpetrators face in it. now that i'd give a dollar to see!

all in all cold stone was good. i had french vanilla with crushed up kit kat in it. next time i might go for something more adventurous, i don't know. i just hope the line is small and no one is feeling generous to give the staff lots of tips.
